Don't have the exact dates of Walkington's service on the Cochrane.
He made the '66 cruise and spent most of his time typing orders and personnel records for the Chief Yeoman - whose name escapes me. He did Yeoman work, even though he was a Radarman by designation.
He became a very successful, small town Illinois CPA in post-Navy life.
My drinking buddy from that era, John Allen, who is escaping the heat and humidity of Kansas City, KS on a brief visit with me in Portland, asked about David--someone who could bend elbows with the best of us. We used to call him "alkington".

David L . Walkington, 64, died Wednesday, Jan. 3l, 2007, at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born June 26, 1942, in Alton to Marion E. and Virginia L. (Thompson) Walkington.
He married the former Ann L. Fosha on May 23, 1980, in Bethalto. She survives.
He owned and operated Metroplex Financial Services in Alton for 20 years. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto, where he served on the board of elders; a member and past president of the Bethalto Rotary Club; and he served on the Bethalto Zoning Board.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters; Traci Cox of St. Louis, Erika Gibson and her husband, Tompall, of Godfrey, and Danielle Walkington of Bethalto; two grandchildren, Alexandria and Jessica Gibson of Godfrey; a sister, Carolyn Lewis of Godfrey; a brother Kenneth M. Walkington of Peoria, Ariz; and a niece, Carrie Liley of East Alton.
He was preceded in death by his parents."
