Does any one remember tying up to the pier in Da-nang during the 68 or 72 cruises?

Dan,

What I remember is being at GQ in the bay and watching the marines water skiing.
I don't remember why we were there in the first place, but it probably had something to do with a firing mission.
I think the reason for the GQ was that Monkey Mountain was being shelled.
It would have to have been in 68..
I don't remember if we were anchored, but that would not make sense if we were at GQ stations..
Hard to believe that it was 41 years ago...

I think that I may have been the Sea Detail Lee Helmsman, I believe that it was at night or dusk. 1968.
Primo's right. I don't think that we tied up.

George,

I have been hunting for you for years.
Spent 9 months working in the Boston area in 72.
Looked hi & lo for you....

I think it was in the day time as I remember marines waterskiing around the ship...
Maybe I have a slide or two hidden away...

Dan, I do remember pulling into Da-Nang harbor during the '72 cruise. A Chief died on board (can't remember his name) and we went in to off load his remains for transfer home to his family. We did not stay very long.
