Does anyone remember Don? He was on board during the '71 cruise. Can anyone tell me about the cruise - what happened when you were in Vietnamese waters? Were you fired upon? Did you go ashore?

Don was my husband - he passed away in 2001.

I was fresh out of C school just before the cruise and assigned to Fox Division, the ship spent some time doing Naval Gunfire Support around Da Nang as I remember, and also worked with several carriers farther off shore. Cochrane was not fired upon during that cruise but did receive some hostile fire during the ‘72-‘73 cruise from shore batteries up north while doing Linebacker duty. We also spent some time in the Taiwan Straights and off Korea. The high light of the ‘71 cruise was crossing the equator, visiting Australia and New Zealand on the way back to Pearl.
