January 14, 1969 or there abouts, I had the Quarterdeck watch when a small boy came alongside after dark and trasnferred body bags and remains of Enterprise crew members across our fantail to the pier. Another seasoning moment frozen in my memory. It was a COLD dark night in Pearl too! Whatawatch.

To those of us not familiar with the circumstances, what had happened on the Enterprise?

Search on google and came up with this URL www.bigefire.com/book.htm which gives a good briefoverveiw. Man, I had forgot that that many had died! Perhaps the small boy had recovered its bodies from sea?
