Hi and My name is Kevin Howe..I served aboard her between 76 to 80.. I was a boatswains mate third class and I loved my job! top deck in the pacific! and a south pac! I haven't seen anything on here about the Gold Bullnose of the ship..remember her bullnose on the front of the ship was painted gold..know why? when they laid her keel. she came out to be one foot and 7 inches longer than she was supposed to be..so they painted the front bullnose gold..I have a bunch of pictures and a ships book if i can find it...reading this page sure brings back alot of memories ;)

Yeah,
we painted her bullnose gold when we put her in commission because she was 4 or 6 inches longer than any other DDG. Longest one built.
